Nice looking board! Red, White, and Blue! Nice.

Let us know what you think of the overall feel and sound, and how the two interact with each other.

Well, I don't have any real experience with real grand pianos. That said, I've been playing a Yamaha Arius (YDP-184) and it's bounds better than that both in feel and sound. The Arius has much heavier keys which are ever so slightly more sluggish. I'd say the Piano Monitors sound very nice as well, though I intend to run the Nord through some Yamaha HS8's for comparison. Definitely want to add a sub to the Nords. All and all it's just a pleasure to play.

Also, I very much like the interface and layout of the Nord controls.

Was thinking of getting this set up myself, how is the action on the piano? Is it fast and allows good note repetition? I don't like heavy actions as much.

Also the nord speakers, they have woofers on them too? Does the pair not give enough bass and you think one would need a separate sub woofer? Was hoping to just have a 2 monitors and nothing more.

Thank you

Mark

The action is very light to me, at least compared to Yamaha and Roland keyboards I have. I think you shouldn't have any problems with fast runs or repetition.

There is no subwoofer built in to the Nord Monitors. The Nord Monitors sound great, but I intend to add a subwoofer to them (probably the Audio Pro). I think they are decent enough in the bass to "get by", but not if you want some real bass satisfaction.

All and all, it's a pretty fantastic set up for me.

Thanks very much for your message.

If OK I wanted to ask something else lastly, which is I already own Roland cm110 system - https://www.roland.com/uk/products/cm-110/

Do you think I could keep this for the nord grand and it be sufficient or should I get the nord monitors as they match the piano and I'd have more room with the absence of the large sub woofer, I'm not sure how the bass would compare also, probably much better on the Roland.

I owned some yamaha hs8 monitors before but sold them as I hated how flat they sounded, didn't enjoy playing my piano through them, kind of sapped the joy out of playing.

Many thanks

Mark

I'm not familiar with those speakers but my guess would be they have a lower bass end than the Nords. You have the benefit of being able to get the Grand and trying out the Rolands without buying the Nord Monitors anyway just to see if you are satisfied with the sound. The Nords MAY have a bit more volume at 80 watts each but that may not be an important factor for you. I happen to have HS5's (and I do like them) and I tried them with the Grand but I still preferred Nord's monitors. However, I have a JBL LSR310S subwoofer connected to the HS5's so the sound was much fuller on the low end. So the only thing I can say is, I think the Nords sound great, but they could be better with a sub. I'm eventually going to get the Audio Pro Addon Sub probably.

Note: in a previous post above I erroneously referred to them as HS8's, but they are definitely the 5's.

Hi Mark

Some time ago I owned CM110 with Nord Piano 2. These speakers sound awful, especially with piano. Avoid them, seriously! Much better if you buy any other 6,5" or 8" monitor speakers.
CM110 are great for electronic drum kit or TV/DVD/PlayStation system but nothing else.

Additionall problem of CM110 is constant noise producing by satellites. It won't be problem on small concert room or on a party but this issue of noise is really noticable and annoying in your room in your flat or house when is silent. I've spoken with PA/speakers specialist from Roland and he confirmed that the noise from CM110 satellites is a normal behaviour, nothing faulty.

I bought them as a B-stock for £265 (new was for £325). Later than I couldn't sell them. Most buyers offered £100. After long time I sold them for £150. I was happy when they gone.

For nice and decent piano sound you need to spend much more money for monitor speakers. This is only right way or great headphones. 6,5" monitor speakers are enough for piano sound IMO. I have 5,25" and I am happy enough.

Here's a short piece I'm working on. I used the White Grand piano setting. I love this instrument!
