Thanks eschulzeMD!

So happy to see this wonderful series still continues!
The folks at Downtown Piano Works deserve kudos for keeping these events going.

I attended my first concert in 10 months at Downtown Pianoworks in June, and heard a wonderful up-and-coming pianist, Larry Weng. His runs in the Schubert were so flawless. The owners of the shop said this was their 125th free concert! I was lucky enough to make the cut to hear Sara Daneshpour this coming Sunday...she's my absolute favorite....such power from such a small package. So fortunate to hear these luminaries in an intimate setting...Marvelous.

We saw Van Cliburn gold medalist Alexander Kobrin last evening at Downtown Pianoworks. He played four Beethoven Sonatas on a new CFX Yamaha concert grand they had in the room. Mr. Kobrin explained that he was embarking on an 18-month project to play and record all 32 Beethoven Sonatas, and will be back 8 more times! He plays so flawlessly, and we were floored by the sweet tone of this instrument under his hands. We can't wait to try and get a seat to hear more from him!

It's been a bit more than a year since I've been able to get into this series, but oh my gosh. Van Cliburn gold medalist Alexander Kobrin this evening....continuing his Beethoven Sonata project:

No. 12 in A flat major, Op. 26
No. 13 in E-flat major Op. 27, No. 1
No. 14 in C sharp minor Op. 27, No. 2
No. 15 in D major, Op. 28

WETA was there recording this concert for broadcast. I cannot wait to hear it yet again. He's simply masterful.

If you haven't heard of this series, and your in the DC Metro area:

Hello all,

I hadn’t been to this series in a year due to some health issues, but just....WOW....

I was lucky enough to get into their 160th free concert. Their series has been going on for 10 years now.

Amit Peled, an amazing cellist played a piece I’d never heard; Gaspar Cassado’s Sonata “In Old Spanish Style”. It was just hauntingly beautiful, and followed by a Strauss cello sonata.

The accompanist, Noreen Polera, a Tchaikovsky accompanying prizewinner was fabulous and their Yamaha CFX was incredible. ......one day I’ll trade up my baby grand (and my house) for this piano.

If you’ve never been to this unbelievable free concert series......you should definitely go to Downtown Piano Works. Our local PBS station, WETA Classical 90.9 fm has broadcast many of these concerts in case you can’t get there in person.

Thanks for this info. Frederick is a bit of a haul from Washington DC, but it's definitely something I will be keeping in mind.
