Pianoteq does not. A big difference. One that is easy to distinguish.

So we are all done deciding if pianoteq sounds like a piano. So here is a (fun) question:

What acoustical piano sounds the most like Pianoteq?

I'm going to go first. I pick on Estonia L210. I think of the pianos I've listened to, the Estonia 210 sounds most like Pianoteq.

Wait! Wait! How did you leave the room without nominating an acoustical piano? smile

Yamaha CP80.

Although it’s electroacoustic to be more precise but on the other hand it’s 100% identical to Pianoteq!

Here’s a Bulgarian Jazz group from the 80-s which (due to being poor I guess) used CP80 instead of a proper acoustic piano in their first albums:

I love that song so much!!! And it sounds so good even on the poor CP80. A good pianist can make it sound good. But I always dreamed if they could re-record it on a proper grand frown

I'm not worthy to nominate an acoustical piano. Unlike MacMacMac and CyberGene I like Pianoteq for what it is. An okay sounding piano that is really playable. I don't have any model designed for Pianoteq 6 yet. I like the Steinway model B. I missed the last sale on the instruments as my wife had medical test done and I didn't want to spend any money. Most likely the next sale I'll buy the C. Bechstein Digital Grand and the ANT. PETROF 275 grand piano.

I know you're just having some fun here. For the price of Pianoteq compared to a C. Bechstein Grand I'm happy with Pianoteq. I choose to support them as I can because I like what the company is doing. Don't think version 7 will be the magical one, more like Pianoteq version 9 will do it.

Well in the spirit of where I think this thread is going.....
My Aunt's wurlitzer piano spinet that was out of tune for the last 10 years smile

The music is good, but that effect where the digital piano sound goes from left to right and from right to left and so on is very distracting.

You’re confusing the issue since Pianoteq has a modeled CP80.

I had no idea that Pianoteq had a modeled CP80. That must be why CG indicated that Pianoteq can sound like a CP80.
Silly me, here I thought he meant it disparagingly when all he was doing was pointing out how good the Pianoteq CP80 model is. grin

We aren't trying to guess what Pianoteq most sounds like any more - we are trying to guess what most sounds like Pianoteq - there's a difference! smile

Since you insist on an acoustic piano that matches Pianoteq ... fair enough ...

I bought one for my daughter when she was around three years old. I never imagined that there would someday be a digital imitation of this piano. smile

That's nothing compared to what I got. I bet even the Mighty Pianoteq doesn't have TWO middle C's!
