I just saw the obituary for James Robert Acheson in the Vancouver Sun newspaper today. He passed away Aug 16, at the age of 100 years. A private family service will be held.

He was a technician and tuner in Vancouver for over 7 decades. I recall him tuning our Sherlock Manning piano regularly when I was a child.

Prayers for his family. It sounds like he led a long good life and made many of his piano customers happy for 70 some years. Perhaps he’s now tuning the angel’s harps as we speak. 😢

Yes will be thinking his family. Any piano technician to us is such a valuable
professional person but Mr Acheson sounds really special. Being in Canada
only 19 years I never had the chance to meet him.RIP work well done !

I knew him well. He was a fine gentleman with a very sunny disposition who took his work seriously and performed it at the highest standards. He also enjoyed instructing other technicians and did so in a very engaging manner. One of the greats!

Jim was my tuner for a new piano I purchased myself some 45 years ago. This is before I had my own store. Jim detected a soundboard crack and the manufacturer promptly exchanged the piano. A very special man and tuner. Highly respected among his peers.
RIP, job well done! thumb
