I have a Kawai RX-3 with a slow fallboard. Over the decades, the fallboard does not close as slow as it used to be.

Is there an adjustment that I myself can make so that the fallboard closes more slowly?

Thanks!

I have never had to deal with anything like that. Don't even know quite how it works. I would think that Don Maninno might know.

I also answered the question on the Piano Forum. These wear out, and can be replaced. The tuner should order replacement damper Mechanisms from Kawai America and install them.

I've replaced one before and it was pretty straightforward. Like taking screws out of holes and putting them back in. (In my case the old one had also leaked out some oily stuff in addition to losing its resistance, which I cleaned up with paper towels.)

You know, this is just like playing the piano: The more you practice, the faster it gets!

I hate to say it, but I am seeing the same problem with my toilet seats.

Yes it's a real problem when it comes down during use smile

OP here, can my older (RX3 original) slow mechanism be replaced with the ultra-slow mechanism that newer Kawai models have these days?
