Personally the keyboard wasn't an issue with me or my dealer when we looked at this range, but the sound was. They look as if they have attempted to address this - see below. Looks like more volume and more dynamic range. Be interesting to hear whether they have been successful.

The GP series is equipped with six speakers, but the new dedicated downward speaker has been reinforced to provide excellent bass reproduction.

As a result, the volume and bass can be increased and output can be afforded, and a sound with less distortion can be played.
② Improvement of touch and sound

▼ Touch ... Weak touch has been improved, and we can now produce a weaker sound as expected. In addition, the expression of changes in volume and sound quality when using a soft pedal is now more sensitive.

▼ Sound ... You can feel the natural sound growth by relaxing the way the sound attenuates after pronunciation. In particular, the rest of the sound when the bass is extended has been improved so that you can no longer feel the sound.

Yes. Casio said that in plain English already at the initial launch of the product family.

And provided photos of the action.

I'm more interested in GP 1000, that's a big number jump.

The 1000 might be a Japan only exclusive model.

But I guess we'll find out all the details soon.

What difference does the number make?

They could have called it GP-600.

Looks like they added longer sustain as well.

TBH, there's never been any question of whether is KEYS are wooden, they clearly are and have always been. The confusion is that many people mistakenly think the Celviano has a full acoustic grand (hybrid) action. Mostly because the term is vague and easily misconstrued (and I'm sure Casio doesn't mind people having that misconception).

To be clear, the Casio Celviano series has a plain, wooden-key unfolded digital action Very similar to Kawai's Grand Feel series. It doesn't have an acoustic/hybrid action, and there's nothing really "hybrid" about this DP versus any other DP.

Because in 90% of cases the bigger number change the bigger model change.

It's a bit disappointing that the next generation piano only has 35 voices. It makes me not even want to bother driving to try it out.

I think the Yamaha CVP-805 has over 1500 voices.

Clavinova CVP are arrangers. It is expected to have many voices. The GP500 is just a digital piano, then you will have some piano and other voices, but it is not expected to get many many voices.

The N1X costs a lot more, but we don’t buy it in order to get many voices too.

If it's digital *I* expect it to have more voices. That's kind of the point of a digital instrument. I can understand having different trim levels to fit different people's budget, but to max out at 35 voices in 2019 is embarrassing.

The CLP-685 isn't considered an "arranger" (not that I place importance on arbitrary names) and it has over 500 voices.

A piano really needs to have only one voice. All else is extra.

Regardless ... the extra voices are usually crap. Most of the care and attention is paid to the piano voice, and little to the others. That's why they sound so cheap.

But ... these models come in all varieties. The number of voices is just one of the "features" that varies according to the market segment into which a model sits.

Surely we must get at least a clarinet with the N1X?

Apparently there's now Casio Celviano GP-510, GP-310 and AP-710.

If it's like the previous models (300, 500 and 700) then the AP-710 will have whatever new sound engine comes with the 510 and 310 but the same keyboard and case as the AP-650 and AP-700 have. (Though the AP-650 is apparently discontinued now.)

So the budget minded person might want to look at an AP-710 when its actually available for purchase in a store.

In the 3+ months I've had my N1X, I've never used more than the primary CFX voice. I guess if I were using speakers more instead of headphones, I would have at least tried out the other piano voices, but since binaural is so good for CFX with headphones, I've felt no urge to try anything else. Eventually, I guess, I will.

The extra voices are mainly interesting if we want to play with a MIDI file in a background.

Then its a nice thing to have (General MIDI at minimum), but it is not the main feature we are looking for when buying a piano. Choosing the CLP685 instead of the CLP675 is not based on this feature alone (it will be costly !)

I just noticed that Casio's soundcloud account actually has demo samples of the new Casio GP510-310 tone.

https://soundcloud.com/casio_official Here is the link to their channel. Scroll down a little and you would find the GP310 -510 samples. Subjective oppinion, I'm not impressed about the new tone.I still have the feeling the sustain is too short, and just the sound is a little bit artificial to my ears. I'm curious about your thoughts as well.

PS: here are some quick links. The channel has more to offer.

Criticism is welcomed since it helps improving and going forward.
