I've had my piano for a few weeks now, but somehow today I only just noticed the gaps between the control center/buttons and the piano keys. Now I'm wondering if this is normal or if I shouldn't be able to see into this gap so clearly? Now that I've noticed it, it's all I can see when I walk towards the piano while it's on and I'm worried maybe I bumped into it and caused something weird to happen since I never was bothered previously.

Photos here.

Something has come loose and shifted. Perhaps before you bought it, perhaps afterward.

It looks "gap-toothed", as I've highlighted here ...

You could think there is a bigger gap down, but to me it's just an effect of the perspective. But I should see a perfectly perpendicular picture from above, to be sure.

looks normal, there is indeed a gap, same on every kawai cabinet model. Now it could be smaller, but maybe it is so you dont accidentally touch the sides when playing.

and it looks straight, its not well iluminated

My piano history in about 15 months: Artesia PA88w -> Yamaha P45 -> Kawai CN 24 -> Kawai CN 37 -> Kawai CA 78
Done with: Clair de Lune - Debussy, Waltz Op. 64 no. 2 - Chopin. Looking for a new piece, kind of learning The Mandalorian theme, and practicing with Etude Op.10 no.1 - Chopin.

Most acoustic grands have a bit of a gap as well, usually to allow the action to slide out and also for the keybed to shift right when the soft pedal is pressed smile
