No. if you are playing at anything below performance tempo, it is not counted at all. You can speed it up though and it will count.

Maybe it could be changed such that you can earn a bronze or silver star if you can play a piece flawlessly at slower tempi.

I agree 100%. When learning pieces in the library, I only go through the slower tempos. If I need a bit more speed, I'll bring it up to tempo outside of the app. In the Method section, there are a few exercise where the faster tempo is quite frustrating.

Hi millsj1134, I've being using Piano Marvel for quite a while now on windows, but the new iPad version it's great and I would love to use that only, but I wonder if the selection feature it's on the roadmap. Let me explain why I think that feature it is very important.

I love to use PM to learn new pieces, I've uploaded a bunch of them already. And like most of people I like to learn by picking a couple of measures at time. I could do that by creating a minced version, but that is extremely time consuming.

So, I create 2 chopped versions, one for each hand, and practice by selecting manually with the mouse the desired measures, with that I can practice a few measures at the time, while having almost all the benefits of minced versions.

Unfortunately that selection it is not available on iPad. Do you have plans to add that?

A couple of comments to the various points on here

1) Tempos too fast.

They may appear to be initially - practice at slower speeds A LOT. Particularly practice relaxing and let the speed build up. I even copy the piece to my own uploads, and make my own exercises - initially at quite slow tempos, but slowly building them up to close to full speed. With my own copy I can make exercises that much more do what I want them to.

I find the more relaxed I can be whilst playing the piece the faster I can go. Its also a mind game. Deep concentration coupled with relaxation and time seems to slow down.

2) Editing exercises

I actually do that on my linux system - doesn't have a piano marvel run capability, but I can edit exercises on my desktop just great. I'm sure most don't have a linux system - but any system with a large screen and a browser can be used to edit on and its easy. Try and have a copy of the score (printed or otherwise on another screen) as you edit exercises. It makes knowing start and end points so much easier to work out with the score in front of you.

3) Selecting measures on an ipad.

In "Play Controls" (bottom right) there is a start and end measure markers which you can adjust with + and - buttons. They didn't work on an earlier Beta release, but I reported an error today they work fine.
