A friend on Facebook sent me the "brain on piano" diagram/chart. It is amazing, and a testament to the challenge of playing a piano along with the benefits of the effort! smile

Now I know why playing Eric Satie's "Gemnopedie" makes me dizzy...

What about the mind and aural imagination and the music. It goes beyond emotions. The artist does not just see but looks at everything then creates something unique.
The musician does not just hear but listens. The aural and neurological functions produce the correct movement through correct training and listening.
The mind and the body used to be thought of as separately, now we know the mind and body work together as one.
There Is something however to playing Eric Satie after looking at this diagram and falling off a chair...........the rhythm in those pieces seem to defy rhythm ?

Thanks Frank!!

I wonder if they've done one for a Pipe Organist - who plays with the feet (pedals as well as expression shoes), has several(+) manuals to co-ordinate, as well as stop changes. Oh - and reading 3 staves.

When I saw this, I thought, no wonder playing the piano is so challenging.
