So...

Amanda Palmer is a rock performance artist who happened to begin to play Tchaikovsky 1 during a concert. A little bit into it, she stops and jumps offstage to get someone else to do it while she basically loses her mind. I think it was done as a performance, but I still cringe at this video years later. Have you guys seen this video? What are your thoughts? Do you view this as an insult?

Oh for Pete’s sake..... this was a pre-planned joke at a light-hearted event. It can’t be anything else.

If you find it offensive, try to lighten up; not everything in classical music needs to be taken seriously.

I personally found it vulgar - I don't know about offensive/insulting, though. She's obviously not a classical musician, so she most likely doesn't share the same values as lovers of classical music - I don't think the audience did either. It is what it is. I can have a good laugh watching Victor Borge, but I didn't find anything funny about this at all.

Very cute! Not one of my favorite pieces, but it's a good one for this sort of light-hearted fun.

It's amazing what passes for entertainment, sometimes. I didn't get the impression (from what little I was able to watch) that the members of the BPO were having fun.

I suspect that most of the musicians were having more fun than they would have if the played the Tchaikovsky straight.

To me both her appearance and her seamingly drunk behaviour seemed unpleasant. Not to mention her playing. I didn't have fun watching this.
