I've never seen one of these (or many digital pianos at all, really) but doesn't the design of this mean that you have to remove your stuff (paper, tablet, whatever) before you can shut the lid over the keys?
It sure looks snazzy though, and I really like the bird too! Yup, all must go! (Which is why I never close this type of piano, had a similar acoustic growing up, and it was always open. The piece of cloth is there to protect it from dust)

Then I heard mention it was a dust cover for the keys but I couldn't understand the need as I close mine up when I am not playing it. Now I understand it's purpose. Thanks!

I like more wooden dark colours, but in that environment the white is perfect. I like the contrast black/white of the bench too. Congrats!

iLogic, I am glad you are enjoying your NU1X. I had mine delivered just under a week ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. It is a fantastic piano and a superb alternative for someone wanting something as close as possible to an acoustic.
