Not that I have anything against it, but she wears so little clothes, I would have thought a small duffel bag would have sufficed. Lol

I looked at the prices, and I'll say one of my favorite phrases: "I'm not there yet." Lol.

For awhile, I was traveling five or more days per week for work, with usually five or more flights SO I thought it would be cost-effective to buy expensive luggage . Well, the really expensive luggage did not last any longer than the cheaper stuff. 🙀

I’m not sure why there’s a post about Yuja Wang’s luggage. At the risk of sounding snarky... so, who cares?

Sorry, I liked the video on the Rimowa site. crazy

I find anything from backstage or the life of a top concert pianist fascinating. Maybe I need to get a life. laugh

Besides, there has been so much nonsense written about her clothes over the last few years, I thought I wanted to post about something even more trivial.

Let's see, anything else...? Well, I heard her talking Chinese for the first time. 2hearts

Yes, me too, very fascinating!

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

Yeah, me too. Yuja is also one of only two "famous people" I follow on Instagram. Not only does she regularly post breathtaking snippets of her performances, but also little updates around her activities, which I always enjoy.

I am on the road for about 100 days a year, and that is the same luggage I use. I have a Rimowa IATA Salsa Deluxe carry on and I will never use anything else. I did two weeks in Europe with nothing but that bag; it is incredibly well built, packs super efficient, rolls well, is durable, and most important fits in every single overhead including CRJ200, CRJ700, and CRJ900.

Ever since snapping off a wheel on a four wheeled spinner and having to drag the bag for blocks, scrapping the axle on the sidewalk and almost lighting the suitcase on fire, I’ve decided to stick to two wheeled suitcases. It wasn’t a cheap bag either.

There are so many Rimowa models, it’s hard for me to figure out exactly which model you’re referring to, could you post a link? I generally prefer soft sided suitcases because they allow you to overpack.

I’m sorry i was so harsh. I do like Yuja, and find her life as a performing artist interesting. I guess I’m just tired of celebrities selling stuff. I don’t appreciate the psychology used to sell things, the commercials and ads showing famous people owning all the right brands. johnstaf, I hope I didn’t offend you and if I did, I’m sorry.

I have to agree with this. I can't understand what interest there is in the commercial hawking that celebrities get themselves involved in and the further publicizing of it by their Twitter followers. To what purpose? Are these celebrities not yet famous enough? Do they not yet earn enough money that they have to further commercialize themselves.

Nor do I see what possible interest it has that warrants its posting here.

Regards,

Ooh, ooh, ooh! I gotta go get me some Rimowa luggage now, and then I’ll be able to play like Yuja! NOT!

Haha, this kind of commercial doesn’t get me anymore. I no longer fall victim to them, but I must say I did once upon a time.

But from a practical perspective, all famous people monetize their celebrity in this way, so I have nothing against it. Being a celebrity only gives you so much monetary rewards; it’s the commercials that are the money makers.

Not at all! thumb

There is something very silly about the modern "celebrity" culture.

String players often take notice of their favorite concert artists' instrument cases because their own cases wear out--they are always thinking of the next one. (Musafia cases are very swanky: http://www.musafia.com/available.html )

Pianists don't have cases to emulate, so there's designer luggage. And celebrity lifestyle. 😁

(Kavakos has been collaborating with Yuja, lately. I wonder what violin case he uses? 😆)
