My piano teachers tuner and technician is highly recommended. He told me about a pristine Kawai K 30 in St Augustine.Ebony satin.. Reports it to be like new and not used much. He works on my teachers K Kawai grand and seems to do a really nice job. People want $3000 firm.
I believe this model was designed for institutional use? But if it is great condition is that a good price?
The tech also does deliveries and will deliver it from St Augustine to Daytona for $150 which is a good deal.( like 60 miles). I am 74 , guitarist for 62 years, but fell in love w piano at age 72, practice 3-4 hours a day and take private lessons every other week.
I would need to sell a couple of my guitars as this is out of my budget range but if feedback reflects a good deal then I’m good as I have several guitars.
Thanks for any advice.

Whatever you do, please don't buy this (or any) piano sight unseen based on the recommendation of a 3rd party. You need to audition it in person. Designed for institutional use isn't necessarily a bad thing - and usually means that the piano is built to withstand lots of abuse. Do you know the serial number - or how old the piano is? If in good condition, $3K may be a reasonable price from a private seller. Here's a K 30 on youtube.

And here's one that sounds even better...…

I agree that you need to zip over there and play it before doing anything. How old is it? (can verify via the serial number) The K30 was a 48” upright, in some generic piano industry marketing it would be called a “full” or “professional” vertical model. Their institutional model from the time was probably the UST-8. I like the K30 more, musically speaking.

I serviced one of these from the early 2000s last summer, and after cleaning, tuning, and a little regulation and spot voicing, the piano felt and sounded nice. It held up well to years of institutional service, and the only hint of that was some case damage.

Absolutely correct. I will make trip and play it myself along w my teacher. Likely 2001 or so. Tech said. Now I do confess I had no opportunity to test out my kawai es110 which I purchased on line. Two years and just one service repair. I have none of the nightmares so many on this forum has reported about the ES 110. Serves me well.
