Hello everyone.

I'm using Kawai CA97 around the last 3 years, however, all that time I had the impression that the samples (I'm using EX ConcertGrand) a bit short in my opinion and less juicy if I can use this word to characterize the sound :-)

First, I've tried to use Pianoteq, but the sounds quality is really bad (at least in my headphones), then I pushed the sound from laptop to DP LINE-IN but then I can hear both pianos, original sample + Pianoteq. My question is: is it possible to shut it down (the original piano sound)?

My setup is following: piano MIDI (USB) OUT to USB-C MacBook then Audio (3.5 mm jack) OUT from MacBook to piano LINE-IN

Look in the user manual for "local control". Turn that off.

If you hear them both, just turn the volume on your piano off. You may hear the slightest sound, that's all. I use my audio in too, but also the line outs into an external speaker. system which aren't affected by the piano volume control. You may not need this.

Correct answer.

Employed by Kawai Japan, however the opinions I express are my own.

Turn off the local control on Setting menu, then CA97 only outputs MIDI signals.
I dislike Pianoteq, and turn to use VSL D274 and CFX on my CA98.
The soundboard speaker system will make pleasant response to the VSL sampling library.
