I think that we should dedicate the upcoming recital to Monica, as one of the recital founders and an inspirational member of the online piano community. (Thanks to Peyton for the suggestion!)

Monica joined the forum in Aug 2005, and has over 18,000 posts, Her contributions have always been helpful and supportive. She was responsible (along with Mr. Super-Hunky) for getting the quarterly recitals started, and served as the administrator for the recitals from the beginning until Recital #53 - that's over 13 years. She has performed in 54 consecutive quarterly recitals! Here is link to the recital index listing all Monica's performances. She has also been the ABF's expert and leading fan for the music of Ludovico Einaudi.

I hope you will join us in dedicating your performance in Recital 55 to Monica to thank her for all she has done for us over the years.

Sam

This is a fantastic idea! I haven't participated in an ABF recital in a really long time (IIRC I planned to for the anniversary one but work got in my way). But I will for this one!

Could someone kindly refresh my memory - it opens on Aug 1, and then is open until Aug 15th -- or is it the previous day? 9pm ET?

that's easy... something by Einaudi!! laugh

Thank you, Sam, for this touching tribute. Now I am more determined than ever to get a recording made. It won't be the most polished performance I've ever given, but hopefully I can get something done. thumb

I've never before played anything by Einaudi despite pressure from the wife, but in honor of Monica 3hearts , I will look for something by Einaudi that I can play for #55!

I was thinking the same. this might be the time to start. We were at ludovico’s Recent performance of his 7 days album tour, I might try to pick an easy piece from his recent score to record.

BTW I was (only half) joking about Einaudi! No one should feel pressed to play one of his pieces! But if you're interested in giving it a try, now is the perfect time! smile

Perhaps I could do another recording of I Giorni? I've submitted 3 Einaudi pieces in the past, but haven't learned any new pieces yet. Perhaps I should give up RCM and just play Einaudi smile

It's too late for me to learn a piece by Einaudi now (too hard!!), but maybe we could have an Einaudi themed recital after this one? Or has it already been done?

It is a wonderful thought, and I would so appreciate having a bit more time to prepare. Maybe an extra recital, one month after the 55th?

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.

An Einaudi recital is a lovely idea, but given how much Monica means to all of us and to the ABF in general, I hope we can keep the 55th recital as stated here, dedicated to Monica.
