I want something that looks nice in my home but would like the best possible action I can get. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with these pianos? I don’t have a local store nearby to test them out and I don’t know what to do.

The action on the N1X is superb since it uses a grand piano action. For this reason alone I would get the N1X. In fact I ordered one myself recently.

If action is what is important to you, skip the CLP entirely and just get the N1X. It has a real acoustic grand action inside, and that is the best you'll find in a digital (along with the other hybrids). The CLP has a simple digital piano action in a grand-shaped housing.

Thanks guys! I love the look of the N1X. It’s so sleek. Also this was my first time posting anything on this website and I’m surprised I got 2 answers with an hour or so! Thanks again!

You might find the sound of the N1X lacking; I wasn't keen on that of the previous N1 model. Bear in mind it has been said on these forums that the difference between the grand piano sound of the CLP 665 is so much better than that of the cheaper derivative, the 635 I think.
The sound of the 695 should be something else. It might be a decision between your fingers and ears . . .and who knows, the better sound of the 695 may also translate into a better feeling action, too.
There's much to look into.

Why not the Kawai Novus NV10? Personally I think it looks better than the N1X, but as an owner I’m biased. Keep in mind that the rear panel is unfinished.

Don’t forget the Yamaha N3X as well.

I'd probably choose the CLP-695 over the NU1X, but the N1X over both.

I suggest to evaluate the N3X, too. It's more expensive, yes, but it is a great piano.

+1 on the N3X.

If you can afford it, it's the best grand-shaped digital available today.

Kind regards,
James

You heard it here first, folks. KJ "dances" around the question ... so there surely MUST BE a Novus grand coming soon! smile

Yep, this is as close to a confirmation as we are ever going to get wink

Biggest question, any changes other than Neotex, black key texture and larger speakers/soundboard?

Yup. The price. Speculations? KJ'll secure a worthy prize for the nearest answer. Maybe.

Hopefully a soundboard? What about an audio interface? If this were the case, it would outclass anything out there.

I'm biased as a N3X owner... but if you want the BEST action and GORGEOUS looks... it IS possible to have the best of both worlds... sure, it's more expensive (I paid $13,999 with $75 delivery)... but if it's something you plan on enjoying for years and years, this might be worth it! I have not regretted a single penny.

Otherwise I'd choose the N1X over the CLP-695. Definitely have a look at the Kawai NV-10 as well.

Instructions:

1. Forget the CLP
2. Try the N1X and the N3X at a Yamaha store
3. Try the NV10 and the GL10/20 at a Kawai Store
4. Try as many acoustic grands as you can in those locations to get more samples of action/sound
5. Buy one of those and enjoy the years of beautiful music that any of the above machine can get you, it's really down to what sound and touch you prefer

So the n3x is very expensive so I don’t think I’m going to buy that one. Also the kawai one isn’t available in my location. I live in the US. If anyone knows a website where I can buy the nv10 with American dollars?
