For me, it's the Barcarolle -- I could never quite get the juice of the Polonaise-Fantasie -- I regard it as not fully integrated somehow, although I can't put my finger on it. Like all of late Chopin (starting with Op 40 or so), they're both golden pieces, though, loaded with poetic complexity.

I'm not particulary a Chopin fan.

But the Barcarolle I love!

Huge Chopin fan here..., but the Barcarolle (just BECAUSE 😊)

Barcarolle or Polonaise-Fantasy.

Not trying to objectively rank them, but I prefer the Barcarolle the most and the Polonaise-Fantasy after that. I don’t really care for the Fantasy in F minor.

Fantasy in F minor - because it's the only one of the three that I've learned and performed (ha ha) - but it is a gorgeous work.

Don't like any of them - though I learnt the Barcarolle as a student with my last teacher.

Once I finished with it, I never picked up the score again.

(Give me Fauré's Barcarolles any time.....)

If I was pinned to a wall, I'd pick the Fantasy, but barely over the Barcarolle. That wistful and longing section that comes in between the two main sections gets me every time. If I was out fishing in a lake or river on a beautiful sunny day, I may switch my answer to the Barcarolle...

Did I pick two? Oops.

Polonaise-Fantasy by a huge margin. I don't even listen to the other two anymore and deleted them from my ipod.
Because they suck! wink

Perhaps the other two are more fun to actually play than listen to. grin

Fantasy closely followed by Barcarole closely followed by Polonaise-Fantasy.

Easy one for me, although it always pains me a little to put any Chopin piece anywhere but 1st place.

1. Barcarolle (which is well in the running for my #1 altogether)
2. Fantaisie
3. Polonaise-Fantaisie

All 3 are great.

1. Barcarolle, a fascinating example of late Chopin. A romantic boat song, an outstanding original. Wish he had composed 3 more to complement his sets of Ballades and Scherzi and Impromptus.
2. Polonaise-Fantaisie, more late Chopin, a mashup of two genres, which is a challenge for any artist to successfully interpret. Luckily most can (Richard Goode, Artur Rubenstein, Krystian Zimerman, Daniil Trifonov).
3. Fantasy in f minor, Chopin in heroic mode, in similar vein to the Heroic Polonaise, or the f# minor Polonaise which I find more interesting than the Fantasy.

I usually call it "the Chopin-est Chopin that Chopin ever wrote."
