How has your Polished Ebony piano held up over the years? Has it lost it's shine? Is it full of scratches? Is it greasy and full of holograms? Or is it still as shiny as it was when it was new?

Polished Ebony is definetely the preferred finish for most pianists (without considering price), but I can't help but wonder how long a PE finish will last before looking worn or lose its integrity

My N3X is still new to me but was built in 2017. Finish still looks fantastic. My biggest complaint is that it is a friggin fingerprint magnet! ... But when shiny, she's beautiful. 😍

If the N1X came in a satin or matte finish I would have ordered that. I haven't had it long enough to know how it holds up (piano tech that came for repairs said it will probably need a good polish in 5 years) but the fingerprints and dust are maddening and I hate having to constantly clean it.

Now learning: Chopin C# minor Nocturne (posth) and C minor Prelude (big chords), Mozart Sonata in C K. 545
Instruments: Yamaha N1X, Kawai ES110, Roland GO:PIANO

Had mine 7 years. It’s as good as the day I got it it. But, and it’s quite a big but for some, I dust or clean it only once or twice a year! I just tell the grandchildren not to write their name in the dust in between times crazy

I didn’t think I would like PE but there is no choice with the Novus NV10. Now that I have it, I feel like it’s a nice perk seeing the keyboard and fingers reflected in the mirror finish. I much prefer PE to the terrible rosewood finish I had on the CA98.

Mine is PE, ten years old. Good as new ... except for a scratch where a lamp tipped over onto the piano.

eek
This made me chuckle (perhaps instead of their names they ought to have written 'clean me') grin

As soon as mine arrived, my little one, sought it to be most suitable as a racing track for his matchbox cars...I never moved as quick in my life to get it covered with a sheet - which also solved the dust cover.
