My Kawai CA78 is sceduled to arrive at dealers tomorrow, 1 day before NAMM. I don't think kawai is going to release anything that will trump the CA78 until next year, but I've heard talks that Yamaha is coming out with the CVP 800 line. I'm no fan of the CVP, but if they announce the new CLP line, I believe they could be more worthy of being a contender to the CA78. In an earlier post I heard talks of the new CLP line likely using GFII key action. As in Kawais GFII? Cause if so, I'm definetily intrigued.

But back to the point. I don't want to wait until monday to get my piano. Should I expect NAMM to release anything that might change my mind about the CA78?

In the new CLP800 line you can expect:
(a) the digit 7 will be changed to 8
(b) the pianos will contain the same Yamaha actions as before, and not Kawai actions
(c) that's all

Things changes VEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY slowly in the piano market.

I wonder where Romar heard about the new CLP line using Kawai’s GFII action?

Well, I 100% guarantee you'll get your wish. No way will Yamaha put a Grand Feel action inside a next-gen CLP smile

The forums desperately need the sarcasm font.

White limited editions of Yamaha MODX and other brands that haven't already done this.
Following the lead of guitar brand Fender, Roland will release a "road warn" RD-2000 with scratched finish and finger stained keys, this option will cost an additional $500. </sarcasm>

It is the CVP800 which is expected : we can expect an improvement by using the Genos styles and sounds.

You are right, changes arrive very slowly. For example, we don’t have a new keyboard at each generation, but what is available in the top end of the line becomes slowly available at the lower end. In 2002, only the CLP170 (the higher), had a GH3 keyboard... this keyboard is now available at the low end of the lineup (CLP625, with a slight change : GH3X), and the higher models have the NWX or the GrandTouch keyboard. But sometimes changes are important, like blended velocity layers. The next important change will be unlooped samples (but I will not expect it soon).

What an awful cabinet choice which would cause me to definitely stick with my N1X.
