It looks like the CVP 800 series is coming soon (at least in Korea). I got this info. from a posting in the PSR Tutorial Forum.

Oh well, as an owner of the CVP709 I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later🥴 Thanks for the info,

@pmh: No worries, pal. You have the top CVP with every feature imaginable. So how much different could the 800-series be?

Napkin dispenser?
Chrome tail fins?
Rifle rack?

I was hoping Yamaha might:

Use Genos voices along with other better samples.
Improve speaker positioning and size.
Improve and de-cheese the inteface with hard buttons and knobs instead of rubber buttons and smudge screens.
Improve the action.

But with the underwhelming reveals Yamaha has had lately (including gutting the number of voices on their P-515), I'm afraid Mac^3 may be correct in suggesting that the new offering may not be much of an improvement and may even be worse.

I don't know what you mean by this. What is "Genos"?

They've not improved the speakers in decades. I wouldn't expect anything new now.

Hi MacMacMac,

Genos is Yamaha’s newest sound engine embedded in their new work station. In the CVP709, the sound engine is based on the old Tyros 5 system. So it makes sense that the new Genos would form the basis of the CVP800 series. This includes new string and other improved voice samples as well as connectivity to their new app. The details can be enjoyed in the video,

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xNGjQmBT-UI

But I do agree, it is unlikely Yamaha will do much to improve the sound quality which leaves much to desired pianowise.

Hoping this new piano will be available not only in Korea! It will be NAMM summer edition in few days... right? Not sure about its date. Maybe in Yamaha booth new CVP800 could be released. If some forum member visit NAMM, please let us know. Also, if they include Genos voices it would be a big step forward compared to previous models.

Pianofortissimo,
I think you are correct for a NAMM debut of the CVP 800 series. This year NAMM runs July 18-20.

New CLP next year too, hoping they scrap the grandfeel action though!

Well, I 100% guarantee you'll get your wish. No way will Yamaha put a Grand Feel action inside a next-gen CLP smile

You’re right; Yamaha will not put a GF action in their next-gen CLP, they’re going straight for the GF2!

I was checking yesterday and was surprised that they were still selling the 700 series.

I have a CVP-705. I certainly could have gotten something just as good or better for less money and I rarely use the non-piano voices. But the sound through my headphones is good enough for me. I rarely play without them because I live in a large apartment building.

I'm happy with what I have but it will be interesting to see what Yamaha does with the 800 series. But I'm sure that the prices will go up. Clavinovas must really be a cash cow for Yamaha.

Well, I believe it is not so surprising they are selling 700 series yet, at least until a new model is released. Maybe it will occur during next NAMM in this week, but until that moment, the old series is in progress. If some member has fresh news about possible new CVP pianos, please update. Thank you.

What I meant was that I was surprised that Yamaha hadn't come out with the 800 series by now. I bought my piano in 2016 and I haven't been paying much attention to what Yamaha has been up to.

We shall see what happens for this Summer NAMM (July 18-20) in the next few days which is not as famous as the Winter NAMM in January. By now, Yamaha USA should have, at least, made a comment for the USA market, I also read somewhere online that they had hoped to introduce the 800 series in May this year, but they had complication.....

It certainly seems that the CVP line is due for a new 800 series.

The CLP series releases are like clockwork ...
. . x2x x3x x4x x7x x8x
CLP 120 130 . . 170 . . . . . 2002
CLP 220 230 240 270 280 . . . 2005
CLP 320 330 340 370 380 . . . 2008
CLP . . 430 440 470 480 . . . 2011
CLP 525 535 545 575 585 . . . 2014
CLP 625 635 645 675 685 . . . 2017

But the CVP series releases are not quite as predictable ...
. . x01 x03 x05 x07 x09
CVP . . 103 105 107 109 . . . 1999
CVP 201 203 205 207 209 . . . 2001
CVP 202 204 206 208 210 . . . 2003
CVP 301 303 305 307 309 . . . 2004
CVP 401 403 405 407 409 . . . 2008
CVP 501 503 505 . . 509 . . . 2009
CVP 601 . . 605 . . 609 . . . 2012
CVP 701 . . 705 . . 709 . . . 2015

It seems like most manufacturers, including Yamaha, go out of their way trying not to be predictable about new product releases. I suppose this is because they want us to buy their existing models instead of waiting for the new model coming out on........ but with the Clavinova it seems like Yamaha is deliberately being predictable. I wonder why.

Please refer to the other CVP 809 thread—-Recent cvp809 YouTube video is now offline. Nashville NAMM looks like a no-no for 2019. Russia is the next NAMM - Sept. 12-14. I believe they will introduce the cvp 800 series by then. Late summer was the last prediction I heard.

If I remember correctly, Genos was unveiled in September 2017, so it could be the same this year.
