Congratulations! Can you give us some impressions on the product? The action is good? How it sounds? The speakers are good?

Hello, I'm jumping into this conversation since I already bought a CA98 that I received 2 weeks ago.

@Tyrone Slothrop : about the price I paid : I paid 3200 euros (3600 USD) for classic black version of it (in France).

Unfortunately, when I received it, it took me 1 second to realize there was a problem : sound is messy, saturated, distorted when using the speaker. I immediately contacted my local dealer and sent them recordings.

They contacted Kawai who sent at home a certified audio technician to check what was happening : I felt like problem was coming from the speakers on the right side of the speaker system on top of the CA98. He switched the two speakers from the right with the 2 speakers from the left, and indeed the problem moved on the left. Hence he asked Kawai for replacement of 2 speakers. I'm currently waiting for him to call me when he'll receive those.

Meanwhile I can only play with headphone (Beyerdynamics DT 770 pro 80 ohms), which is quite frustrating, but I'll give you my feeling on it in a few words :

I think the sound is, overall speaking, fantastic. To put this in context, I am a beginner pianist (but long time musician) so I may be not as demanding as a very good pianist. Still, the sound is very good especially in pianist mode. regarding "sound" mode it's very good as well but some piano sound very differently than on the speaker+soundboard (isolating my speaker issue) with more depht than on headphone.
I mostly play the pianist mode, and I'm exploring the differents presets which impact the tone of the instrument. The three I use the most are "classic", "Rich" and "Ballade". I read here and there that the "romantic" preset is appreciated for its mellowness but if find it too "blurry" for the moment. I did not try to use the virtual technician so far, but for sure there are many settings you can use to personalize your sound.

I'll make an update when the speaker system will be fixed and when I will at last be able to appreciate this digital piano the way I enjoyed it when trying it several time in local dealer stores!
