About point 2:

I accidentally left a headphone adapter on the control panel when closing the fallboard. It rolled back under the fallboard and when I opened it again this caused the pin that holds the fallboard on the left side to move out of the holder/suspension/mounting bracket (not sure which is the correct word in English). Strangely, it still worked relatively well even with only one of the two pins positioned correctly. Only the red felt was not moving correctly and the fallboard went down a bit too fast. In my case the pins were "too short", so that the fallboard had to be positioned exactly in the middle, where each pin is positioned only half the way into the mounting bracket.

You can actually pull out the fallboard yourself and reattach it in the middle so that both pins are in their holders. But it is probably not a good idea concerning the warranty.
The better solution would be to adjust the pins so that they stick out a few mm more, which can be done after pulling out the fallboard, but it is more work.

Is it possible that there was a sudden humidity/temperature change in your room? I remember something like that happening to our upright piano if the weather is changing rapidly from hot and dry to cool and damp or vice versa. Probably condensation or stuff causing swelling of the felts and/or wood... who knows what.

A note on the headphone amp. So I don’t believe it lacks in power anymore. I inadvertently turned Pianoteq on over the audio interface and almost deafened myself. So it’s the sound level of the internal piano sounds that seems to be the issue for me.

Hi everyone!

This might sound like a strange question, but I was wondering if the pedal location (relative to the keyboard) on the N1X is the same as that on a grand piano. From the pictures it seems like the pedals are very far behind the keys, farther than in a grand piano. But maybe this is just my impression. Any thoughts?

The pedals seem to be normally positioned compared to other grands I’be player.

Far under the keyboard is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I hate the position of the pedals on most digital pianos. They are much too far forward which prevents you from having the right leg/foot angle to the pedals. This gets very tiring and uncomfortable if you are a tall person. The N1X seems to be a more realistic position compared to a real grand, so that's a good thing.

I finally bought (ordered) my N1X. It’s going to be delivered around the end of September, beginning of October. It’s going to be a long wait, but worth it.

Today I tried it at the store with my earphones on and I have to say that I really couldn’t tell that the sound was coming through the headphones. It was an amazing experience. I also really liked the keyboard touch. Before I had tried the NU1X, and I’d liked it, but now I prefer by far the N1X touch. It feels more real to me. Probably because I used to play grand pianos instead of uprights before.

Hope to be playing on it soon! Can’t wait!

Congrats Haruki!

I'm a little surprised that even in Japan, deliveries will take until September/October. It really looks like Yamaha's manufacturing is behind.

Yes, that's a long wait. Do you know it will take so long?

On their web page the only "hyrbrid" reference I could find was this:
"The AvantGrand is the crystallization of our hopes for the piano, something which cannot be summarized by simply calling it a hybrid of the digital and acoustic."

Thanks!

I actually went to two piano stores. The first one was a Yamaha music store, the second one was a regular music store with pianos from other brands as well. In both I was told that the earliest delivery would be in September, because the piano has to come first from the manufacturer.

I also was thinking that I would get it in a few weeks given that is Japan. Maybe the demand is too high on the N1X.

Well Bro’ mentioned the wait in Paris is also until September, but Japan is the home of Yamaha. I’m feeling lucky I bought mine when it was available. I feel I wouldn’t have had such good luck if I had to order one.

Early NV-10 purchasers had to wait a few months as well (release in the US was Dec 2017 but lots of stores weren't seeing them until Feb-Mar or later). These are BIG, fragile boxes (and each piano is shipped in two boxes) and global logistics are a hard problem.

I'm glad the N1X is a hit, but I'm sorry some of my fellow forum members have to wait three months.

Don't they know who we are?!?! grin

The store where I bought it told me that Yamaha only delivers new N1X's every quarter and that I was lucky to get the very last one from the latest shipment. Otherwise I would have had to wait till September too.

@nax: Have you made the purchase? If so would you care to join the crowd by sharing your purchase information in the prices paid thread?
