I am in need of a shift lever (una corda) for a Baldwin M grand #183xxx. It was broken in a move.

FYI I have already tried Schaff, Gibson and various other sources to no avail. I am hoping to harvest one off of an otherwise irreparably damaged piano, perhaps by flood, etc. It must be about 12" long overall on the long arm.

Does anyone know of a seriously damaged Baldwin M that will otherwise get junked?

Have you got the bits of the broken arm? It could very likely be repaired with brazing, failing that, it wouldn’t be too difficult to make a replacement. Give me a shout if you get stuck smile

There must be blacksmiths who could make one for you.

Maybe metal 3D printing would be affordable.

The entire long arm is missing. I did not anticipate such a problem with this but it really is a pain in the neck.

Schaff's version is almost 2" longer. True, I could have it shortened, and if worse comes to worst that is what I will need to do I guess. Just hoping I could get an original from a junked piano. There must be one somewhere.

Hard to believe that there isn't one junked Baldwin M grand out there from all these floods, tornados, etc for which a shift lever might be available.

Anyone...anywhere? 12" overall length on long arm.

Peter,

I see that Baldwin manufactures the M1. Maybe you could try contacting Baldwin directly.

Or, maybe not if Gibson can't help you.
