I'm a long-time owner of electric keyboards (as finances and living situation have dictated).

This summer I'm renting a space and opening a teaching studio, and have been on the fence about whether to invest in an acoustic instrument or to go with a cheaper, more portable, and more easily re-sellable electric instrument.

Due to some surprising coincidences, some stars aligning, and some good will on the part of the seller, on the 26th of this month I'll be the owner of a 6'9" Kawai KG-6!

I'm buying from the original owner, who bought it in Japan in 1992.

The owner is a great pianist who has kept great care of the instrument, and the technician over most of the life of the instrument is a trusted friend who can also vouch for the care and condition.

This all happened fairly fast, and I'm still a little in shock. Two months ago if you asked if I was going to own even a 5' instrument I would have said, "eh, maybe . . . someday," and stared off wistfully into the middle distance.

Now I'm counting down the days till this 6'9" beauty moves in smile

Woohoo!

You should head straight for the casino while luck is blowing your direction. Beautiful piano.

Cosmetically, it looks in splendid condition. The length of the KG-6 offers a bass register of substance and a richer sound throughout.
Congratulations on acquiring this beautiful piano!
Kind regards,
Robert.

My friend's KG is what made me fall in love with Kawai when I was a kid. I loved how it played, and the distinctive blue felt. A Kawai grand has been my dream piano since then. Congratulations, what a beautiful instrument!

Yeah, I must say BluMunk, that is one happy piano story that everyone here on PianoWorld pretty much dreams about.

Thanks all! I didn't go out and buy a lotto ticket, but maybe I will after the piano is delivered . . . 7 days and counting!

Also, there's a lot of interesting historical material that is coming with the piano; the previous owner kept everything. I've got a tiny stack of Kawai marketing pamphlets from the early 90s, as well as personal correspondence from the salesperson in Japan to the buyers. Kind of a cool window into the history of the instrument and the company. When I find the time I'll scan and share some of it.

It's rare to get this kind of documentation and info with a pre-owned piano. And, it is valuable to you, the new owner. Congratulations again!

I purchased a pre-owned K&C studio upright piano once and the seller (a very nice lady) gave me the original bill of sale/receipt where her mother purchased it for her new. She also gave me a very nice brass piano lamp, which I still have, and a nice hug. smile

Enjoy your piano!
