Hello all Jack again,
I wonder if anyone could tell me how do I learn the Jazz ? you see I am from China, not good at English. and we dont have many jazz players , no need to mention no one is good at it, but since I listen to the jazz I love it very much, and now I am learing classical music theory and I guess soon I will need to learn jazz theory. but as I was saying we dont have the REAL jazz in China, then what kind of book I should have read ? or whos book that I should read ? I believe in the good jazz theory is the must, and stand by the theory people could learn the different jazz Language, then learn the different Genre.I like Cool jazz bebop. I know there alot of type of those two kinds , maybe I could learn it all.also if the book is English I will learn Eng too but I hope it worth. therefore, could you guys tell me about the book? whichi one should I buy or shomthing should I do ?

thank you you all

Since you say you don't speak much English, perhaps you should start with this Chinese jazz harmony book:
Jazz Harmony
I haven't actually seen the book so I don't know if it's any good. smile

Hi Jack

There are plenty of great books out there,
I'd have thought the one Jazzyprof recommended would be a good buy as its in Chinese.

Otherwise Mark Levine's "The Jazz Theory Book" and "The Jazz Piano" is a pretty comprehensive works, though not for beginners.
https://www.amazon.com/Jazz-Piano-B...mp;qid=1560497183&s=books&sr=1-1

Phil De Greg's "Jazz Keyboard Harmony" is excellent:
https://www.amazon.com/Jazz-Keyboar...p;qid=1560497066&s=books&sr=1-51

I'm sure Bill's site is very good, and I'd certainly recommend http://www.davefrankjazz.com/
A resource that I've used over the last few years.

Cheers
