I think the only control over the output level is from the settings on the MacBook Pro. I was able to increase the level.

Today, I received the beautiful thing.
Congratulations on your new piano! I agree it's not the best out there, but you'll get hours of pleasure from it!

Yes, so, there is a laptop output level, a keyboard master volume, and a volume control in Pianoteq. Somebody said that you can get also get the level higher if you reduce the dynamic range in Pianoteq.

People should put the street price after each model when they compare pianos. There is a "prices paid thread" over here. You should add your new purchase to it, if you haven't already.
across the stone, deathless piano performances "Discipline is more reliable than motivation." -by a contributor on Reddit r/piano "Success is 10% inspiration, and 90% perspiration." -by some other wise person "Pianoteq manages to keep it all together yet simultaneously also go in all directions; like a quantum particle entangled with an unknown and spooky parallel universe simply waiting to be discovered." -by Pete14

Somebody said that you can get also get the level higher if you reduce the dynamic range in Pianoteq. You can but why would you ? I frequently increase the dynamic level in order to emphasize my ability to play very soft AND loud. I think tunes are boring with low levels of dynamics.

I agree, I’m just quoting from a thread that had solutions for low output levels from Pianoteq.

Hey. I discovered strange thing with the headphone output in my P-515. Especially within first few minutes after powering-on the instrument, sound in the left channel is decreasing its volume, some noise is also present. I tried to record this with my laptop. Here you can listen to the recordings: I also recorded some tracks into the USB stick for comparison. https://soundcloud.com/user-776718472/sets/p-515-headphone-output-problemThe problem is most audible in Track 1. It's also present in Track 3. What do you think?

The headphones amplifier in the P-515 is a rather strange design. I get better results with it, when I connect two pairs of headphones (both headphone ports share the sample amplifier) to use one of them. Currently I have a Yamaha HPH-150 together with a Sony MDR-7605 connected - at maximum volume, which is barely enough.
But the missing left channel is a defect (sounds like a contact/switch problem), which doesn't occur on my device.

That's unacceptable. For that price tag, I expect at least quality of similar to the O2 ODAC headphone amp. I have two of them, and they are not that expensive, if you solder yourself.

I used my HPH-MT5s on the P515 and anything past 45-50% on the volume slider was too loud (I thought I'd damage my hearing playing at prolonged lengths) - 45% was the sweet spot for me...would that not signal the headphones used to be the limit and not the amplifier?

I know, I should get my hearing checked. My ES100 isn't really louder, so there is not much headroom for people with real hearing loss. But the suggestion wasn't about the volume, plugging in a second set of headphones doesn't change anything about that. But it changes the frequency response and sound characteristics, which points to an impedance mismatch.

Good news! After the second repair done by another Yamaha service, a broken part was replaced. Moreover, it was all made at my home! I don't have to worry about shipping or something like that, the serviceman visited me two times. Thanks Yamaha for such a professional customer service!!! At the moment, the problem is gone and I hope it's gone forever.

The P515 does not have a noise issue. We have no information on how the the YouTube demo was recorded. I'm obsessive as it gets to noise floor. Two or three years later. Me too. I have good ears, and both of my P-515 instruments definitely don't have noise/hiss issues. In default mode - with and without headphones ---- no issue. I'm thinking that if there are hiss/noise issues ----- then it will be a warranty case, as a fully functional P-515 has no noise issue. I agree.

I also bought a P515 in 2019 and could hear the clipping noise. Thinking it was on all the P515s I took it back and swapped it for a Nord Piano 4, which I am very happy with.
