Hi,

This is my interpretation of Yann Tiersen's Tempelhof. I especially like the combination of the piano with park ambience recording in the background. The atmosphere seems great to me, I hope you'll enjoy it as well. I'm open to possible suggestions and critique.

Can I ask you what was the idea behind your interpretation? What have you decided to change compared to the author's version and why?

Well, my intention wasn't of changing it. I was just pretty inspired about his album version of Tempelhof, which contains park recordings which are more audible than the version you sent. Yann also uses synths on his original album version, but I am not good at that, so I just left my own interpretation sing of the song, and added the natural ambience in the background.

I think no one can play a piece like Yann, but the beauty resides that his pieces are so free in expression, that you can make it a little bit your own.

Thank you for your question smile Do you find any of the versions to be better in some way? Maybe you could tell me what you enjoy most.

I see.

You know, it's hard to compete against a real grand on a DP, because the sound of a real grand is richer, and Tiersen particularly makes use of it trying to get the notes of the right hand drown in left hand's arpeggios. I think he was particularly listening to these resonances when playing and probably it was his main idea for the piece, he wanted to depict a park where random human noises like children playing, etc. get drown in palpitation of leaves and other noises of park's magnificent nature.
(It's just my guess, I may be wrong.)

Your interpretation in somewhat different, I think it's more like a song, with more separation between melody and accompaniment. That's why I asked about the idea behind it.
One thing that I particularly like about your interpretation is its rhythmic steadiness. Tiersen too often plays a note in right hand with a small delay, it gives the effect but after a few minutes it becomes annoying IMO.

I haven't heard the original, but I liked what you played and how it sounded with the background noise.
