There are 13 nocturnes by Faure and almost all of them are amazing. Here is one of my very favorite ones and probably quite a bit more manageable and shorter than some of the others. This nocturne was probably not called a Nocturne by Faure but is one of the short pieces of op. 84. I posted this in the ABF recital a few months back. It was a work in progress then and now it's a little bit less of a work in progress. If you have feedback please share. smile

I would not call this performance a "work in progress." It's quite refined and I very much enjoyed listening to it. Fauré's music requires a special touch, or a special approach, a special mind-set, if you will, and I think you have it. Perhaps the running sixteenth-note accompaniment could be a little more "blended," a little less "notey" at times, but on the whole I was quite enchanted by this performance.

Thank you very much for sharing.

Regards,

Very beautiful, I really enjoy Faure's nocturnes. I listened to this twice in a row! Please share more performances with us in the future.

Thanks for the kind, encouraging comments! Blending those 16th notes is a constant struggle. I wonder if it would help if I pick up the tempo a bit. I took a cautious tempo for this recording which was one of many practice recordings. I just liked it enough to post it. Overall I still want to work on the balance of sound, probably need to improve my pedal work in addition to softening/blending those 16th notes.

I learned the 3rd nocturne before this one but didn't get it up to performance level. Hopefully I can return to it soon.

Beautifully played. I love Faure's music and this piece in particular. It has those eddies and currents of taking you somewhere mysterious.

Beautiful. Funny - I'm working on Clair De Lune, and strugglng with the same issue, how to get that L hand accompaniment of 16th notes softer and in the background. Any tips LMK also!
