I'm thinking of electrifiying my 1920's Cunningham player piano. The suction box kits are quiet expensive. I was just wondering if anyone ever built their own and installed it in a player. Seems to me $300-$500 is a bit expensive for what it really is. Thanks!

When I was a piano tuning student back in the late 1970s, we were shown how to use an old Electrolux vacuum motor, a light dimmer/rheostat, one way valve that was available through Player Piano Company in Wichita, and build one ourselves. But, I m not sure I would do that today. Insurance, regulations, liability, etc
