I feel silly asking this, but what do you call the letter markings on the score that the orchestra uses to designate a rehearsal starting point? Are those markings consistent between different publications or do they vary? Thanks!
Best regards,
Deborah

I'm pretty sure I’ve always known them as rehearsal marks. I’d expect they’re added during the editing so probably could vary between editions?

Thanks ShyPianist. I've found instrumentalists get very impatient with me if I don't have the same markings on my music as they do. I'm going to be performing a movement of a Bach concerto this summer and my Barenreiter edition does not have these markings nor do the editions on IMSLP.
If anyone has an edition of Bach's BWV 1058, g minor keyboard concerto that has these markings, could you please share? I'm only going to play the Allegro Assai, 3rd movement.Thanks.
Best regards,
Deborah

The marks may depend on the edition that the orchestra is using. You should discuss it with the librarian or the conductor.
