Hi.

I have a Roland fp7f. As far as I can tell it works okay. I’ve had it for a few years and bought it used. And I’m a single piano household.

I guess I could get a real piano. Might be able to fit a baby grand in my place, though I live on the second floor.

What I’m wondering is whether I should get something newer. Or better. What I should be looking for. What the differences are at the different price points. And the answers to whatever other good questions there are that I don’t lnow to be asking.

I’ve read that in digital piano technology things change quickly. So naturally, I’m wondering if I’m missing out on something and if so, what.

Thanks in advance for all your inputs.

I would suggtest reading through some of the threads which seem to be addressing your question.

This question has probably been answered a dozen times in the last month on a few of the threads at this site.

Or not.

Thanks Don. I started with a search but the results I got were a few years old. Guess I’d better try again.

The Roland FP7F was a good slab in it’s day, although I personally never got on with the keybed. If you’re happy with it, action and sounds I would keep it and concentrate on playing or improving. If you’re happy with it and Roland, maybe try an RD2000 or FP90 in a store and see if that excites you enough to upgrade. If you fancy a change maybe try a MP11SE or P515 to see what you are or aren’t missing.

If a grand suits you, go for it. It will likely be better than any digital.

It think this is best answered by you, sitting on the benches in front of the pianos at your local dealer.

This is a myth:

Things change VERY slowly.

I believe only you can answer that query.

What do you like about your current Roland? What do you disiike about it?
With this in mind, visit some of the piano dealers in your area, play-test a variety of different brands and models within your budget, and take it from there.

Kind regards,
James
