I recently purchase a Korg G1 Air. I am very happy with the instrument apart from one issue, namely the fact that there is a constant hiss coming from the speakers even when not playing. I cannot hear the hiss when playing, but it clearly audible when not playing and seated in the normal pianist position. There are no other electronic devices nearby so I do think it is interference.

The volume of the hiss does NOT change when I adjust the volume on the instrument suggesting that the noise is generated in the output stage of the amplifier..

Despite this assurance from the agent that the piano hiss is ‘normal’, I am not satisfied with the performance of the instrument. In my opinion there is a design or manufacturing defect with the piano’s amplifier.

Is this a common problem with the Korg G1 Air?

I had a similar observation with my Korg D1 using headphones. A subtle high pitch buzz, but it is slightly related to the volume. Does yours hiss even with the volume at 0? I use mine as midi 99% of the time, so it's not an issue for me otherwise I might return it. Have you tried connecting it to another socket?

It's new and it's defective. Return it. Get a different piano.

Just be careful of things like computer power supplies etc. Unplug as many devices as you can. Takes only a few minutes to eliminate that factor.

Probably not defective since it's a Korg crazy OK maybe that's a bit unfair, I'm sure they make good instruments?

I have one (not a G1). It's a cheap B1. Just turned the volume up as far as it will go. No hiss or hum.

I have a G1 Air. No hiss on mine. Yours is defective.

If I remember correctly, you should have a 5 year warranty if you registered it with Korg within a certain window of time. Without registering right away, I believe the warranty is still for 3 years.

Awesome little piano, especially for the price.

Hello
I have the Korg G1 Air and am very happy with it-very well built and great touch and sound for a mid priced digital
Mine does not make any hissing noise even at the loudest volume level so I think if the hissing is an issue for
you I would have it replaced under the warranty

Yes it hisses with the volume at zero. There is no hiss through headphones.
I intend returning the instrument to the supplier for repair or replacement.

You say in your original post that you think that the noise is due to interference. If that is indeed the case, getting a replacement piano may not fix the problem.

I think he meant: There are no other electronic devices nearby so I do (NOT) think it is interference.

I also am having an issue with a constants hiss coming from the speakers of a Korg G1 Air. I am wondering if David was able to resolve the issue by returning it.

Actually I think I should test for interference from my computer.
