The Homewood Sessions. Leon Russell was a great player and a great songwriter. Not much of a singer. This (Homewood sessions) was reportedly filmed over a 6 hour period and edited down to one hour. There are some nice shots of Leon's playing.
Also there seems to be a Fender Keyboard Bass played by an organ player.

The video image embed function seems to be a bit confused.

Hi Dave

Thanks for posting, I'd forgotten this session.
Leon was a marvellous talent, I think he was a decent guitarist as well.
Not a great singer I agree, but certainly distinctive.
And interestingly once you knew his version of a song, when you then heard anybody else sing it, it sounded 'wrong' :-)

Cheers

Simon

I love this.

Leon was a huge talent. He was one of the wrecking crew back in the day also. If I could only play like him....sigh....

Thank you for this! LR was one of my all time favorites. I actually thought his voice was great and distinctive and went really well with what he wrote! He did disappoint me with the CD he did with Elton John (but EJ was disappointing too) I was lucky enough to see him several years ago in Portland at a very small venue and he was awesome!
