I'm not sure why it is that small hands would make fingering harder. Can you give an example?


What the previous poster wrote, but replace 9th with an octave. And on my RH I can only reach it on the very edge. Especially with polyphonic pieces I need quite a bit of unconventional fingerings to bring out all the voices.

I don't write down fingerings very often except where my fingers don't naturally find the most comfortable one. I'm always changing fingerings anyway.

If you need to write down fingering for every note, I can't see what's wrong with that, especially if it helps you to play better. When you're ready, you might prefer to just write down the fingering of the first note in each new hand position. Then you might feel you need less and less. You should always write down as much as you need.
