Hello guys!

Long time lurker here. I am looking into buying a grand piano, especially from Yamaha.
I played the C2X and the C3X, both were absolutely beautiful. The C2X has the 1st Gen SH (Silent Tech), the C3X has the TA (1st gen also).

On a different Yamaha I tried the TA2, which was absolutely marvelous, also via headphones.

Now - I didn't have the chance to test the SH2 but I believe it's the same sound via headphones as the TA2.
I have three offers: C2X in chrome with SH for 24k$, C3X with TA for 35k$ or C3X with TA2 for 40k$.

My question is - had somebody compared the SH to SH2 before? Do you think the binaural sample of the CFX on the SH2/TA2 and the other available pianos are worth the extra price?
In addition, I've read that the C3X is built slighty different, of course it's a bit longer too.

Should I go for the C3X with TA2, for a great sound also with or without headphones and different piano sounds, or keep some cash and be fine with the C2X?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Can somebody confirm that the SH is the binaural CFX too, the same like on the SH2/TA2?

I paid 34K USD last year for my C3XSH. I think 24K USD for a C2XSH is a really good price. My dealer was asking $29K for a C2XSH last year.

My C3XSH has binaural CFX sound, but since it's older generation, it doen't have virtual resonance modeling and no Bosendorfer sounds.

Best of luck!

Personally I'd focus on whether you wanted a C2X or C3X. Once you have Midi you can presumably add any digital piano technology you want and the acoustic element is presumably the most important aspect otherwise you'd be in the neighbouring forum.
The electronics will go out of date over time, the acoustic piano is for life, well it is at my age.

You are both right! The acoustic sound and feel will definitely come first place for me.

I didn't know about the virtual resonance modeling.
I tried the Bösendorfer sound in a TA2 and it wasn't really good, like I don't know if I would use it at all.

Sadly I couldn't compare the C2X side by side with the C3X. Since both sounded really well on both occasions, I might go with the smaller one (as I don't have a big house too, but an apartment).
