I will be in Rio de Janeiro for two months this summer and I was wondering if anyone has good suggestions for finding a piano on which to practice? Thank you in advance

I don't know the city but just reached out to a pianist friend who travels there often. I will post if he gives me a lead to pass on.

Maybe check with some Churches to see if you can practise there? I've done that on 2 occasions when I was away for extended times.

Go to the UFRJ in downtown Rio where the music school is located and ask around. Hope your Portuguese is good as there is minimal english spoken in Rio but students are you best bet. If you manage to find a piano, it will probably be in appalling shape in an un-air conditioned space. Brazilians are friendly and quite aligned to "back ways" to access things, but culture of little interest to Cariocas who are mostly beach people. Good luck!

OK.

The best advice is to get in touch with Casa Pierre. They are a full service piano store who can likely allow for practice time.

Good Luck Ji Yeon Song!
