Hello,
Well, it seems that the legacy disklavier floppies are no longer available from Yamaha or Hal Leonard. Even worst, some of the greatest titles are not available for download because Yamaha doesn't have a license to offer all of them digitally. Anyone know a good dealer or source of used disks?

I am desperately looking for the Windham Hill Sampler Pianosoft disk. I have a copy that has become corrupted unfortunately, and the only version from Yamaha is a PSX download, which doesn't work in any version newer than Mark 3.

Thanks,

Andy

I tried that, and it is a PSX file, rather than a midi. Apparently, Yamaha used to use PSX files, which only work on a Model 3 or older. It’s a shame, because I have that floppy disk, but it is corrupted, and won’t play. The floppy was a midi, but the download is a PSX.

Are you sure? You can buy and download the files not only for the older Disklavier models but also for the Disklavier IV, E3 and Enspire which, afaik, are the latest models. After downloading you can use Yamaha software to copy the files to a floppy or USB, depending on your system.

Unfortunately so. I downloaded it and they had to refund me. It’s only available as a PSX file, unlike the 2 dozen others I downloaded from Yamaha. Crazy, but true. And no way to concert PSX to MIDI.

Well depending on how good you are with computers, and how determined you are, it is possible.

First you would have to download the PSX from the Yamaha site again. Then you would follow the instructions at https://psxmusicsoft.blogspot.com/ http://www.carolrpt.com/musicsoftware.htm which show how to extract ESEQ files from the PSX archive. Finally, you would use the utility at http://www.carolrpt.com/musicsoftware.htm to convert the ESEQ files to MIDI files, put the MIDI files back on a Yamaha formatted floppy disk, and away you go.

Thank you. I tried the musicsoft downloader and it just put the PSX file on the floppy.

Did you do step 4?
Quote
Step 4: Double-click on the PSX file you want to transfer to a floppy. Musicsoft Downloader will open and require to format the floppy diskette and then extract the contents of the psx file to the diskette. You only have to identify if your floppy in the drive is a 2DD or 2HD floppy diskette as indicated on the diskette itself. Click OK and you will see the drive start the process of creating the music diskette. It creates an ESEQ formatted diskette with ESEQ music files. From what I see, the floppy is only readable by the Disklavier unit once the application finishes writing the music to the diskette.
