Just what is says. Never any weight up there. Just showing a little age. One day, I will remove it and put a nice strip of rock maple across the bottom and, never look back ...

Not necessary. It is even across the top with about 3/8 - 1/2" in the middle. Kinda funny actually. Will correct it and post pix in a while ...

Yep, had that problem with my first CA-95. I couldn't close the keyboard cover without it dragging. That and two blown amps 5 days after delivery had the dealer get me a new one. New one is better, but still sags a little. A very poor design - needs some perf angle steel or something sturdy to brace it. Pic of my first one - note the middle resting on the top of the keyboard cover.

The topboard is a a long, heavy piece. As such, it's possible for the wood to sag slightly over time.

To prevent this, additional reinforcement was added, starting with the CAx8 series (possibly earlier i.e. mid-production of the CAx8).
I don't believe this is an issue on CAx8 and later instruments.

Kind regards,
James

Bsntn99, wow, thanks for the pics. Sounds like Kawai recognized this as a problem and addressed it moving forward, but I don't know whether existing owners get the benefit of that.

McBuster, I'm not quite sure why you say pics of the issue are "not necessary"? In any case, bsntn99's pics demonstrate the issue pretty clearly, and I personally think the pics necessarily help illustrate the issue smile
