Of all the time you spend on piano, what percentage time do you spend learning piano, vs experimenting with hardware / software?

Learning: 99.5%
Experimenting: 0.5% (could be an over-estimate)

I've probably totally spent about 6 hours experimenting and tuning settings on my MP11. That's neglectable amount compared to what I've spent playing it.

Essentially zero time experimenting. I turn on my P-515 and play using the default voice (CFX Grand). The only control I tend to adjust is the volume slider (louder during the day than in the evenings out of consideration for my neighbours).

I use that a lot too. I wish the metronome tones were more pleasing to the ear, but that's quibbling.

I don't know about percentage, but I might have spent a couple of hours first learning how to record with Garageband, and half a year later trying to get a better sound out of it. Other than that, none.

Now, if you would ask of all the time you spend on piano, what percentage time do you spend learning piano, vs reading and writing on PW, my answer would be quite different. blush laugh

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.
