iLogic ... You bought from a dealer in Denmark and paid in dollars? Well actually.. I bought from a dealer in Denmark, but paid in Swedish Crowns. I just converted the cost into dollars for reference sake. Price in SEK: 33 000kr

USER LOCATION: Welwyn Garden City, UK MAKE: Roland MODEL: FP-90 CONDITION: Refurbished PRICE PAID: £899 ($1,179 at today's exchange rate) DELIVERY CHARGE: N/A VENDOR LOCATION: Somewhere in the UK + online VENDOR NAME: Sound Affects PURCHASE DATE: March 24, 2019 I've been trying A LOT of DP's below £1.5k and I finally went for the one with the action I like the most. I'll share my experience and thoughts in another thread, hoping it'll help fellow piano fans to unravel their thoughts among the many available models in that range - or maybe confuse them further with yet another opinion to be added to the hundreds already existing I was a touch worried this was a refurb unit at quite a low price, but it's absolutely perfect.

I'm wondering why the slab versions of many DP's are not cheaper than the full piano versions. If I look at the FP90 there are many Roland DP's that cost the same price, and includes a cabinet, same action etc.

PianoStartsAt33 ... You bought from a dealer in Russia and paid in dollars? I've seen you asked the same question to iLogic a couple of posts above My answer is "I just converted the cost into dollars for reference sake" also

I've seen you asked the same question to iLogic a couple of posts above My answer is "I just converted the cost into dollars for reference sake" also I suspect that Mac is asking this because it introduces some uncertainty into his own project (taking the responses from this thread and inputting them into an online spreadsheet that can be filtered/sorted more easily). But as a regular forum user, I appreciate the consideration you, iLogic and others display by converting your purchase prices into USD, it helps an international audience standardize on a given price. Maybe it would be a win-win to add a "converted" tag next to the price, though I wouldn't put it on any submitter to do so.

The conversion is fine. But the lack of the original native price prevents others from making a comparison. The US dollar equivalent doesn't matter much for a sale made in Russia ... because no one in Russia can buy that piano in US dollars. You bought from a dealer in Russia and paid in dollars? I've seen you asked the same question to iLogic a couple of posts above My answer is "I just converted the cost into dollars for reference sake" also

But there are some... features of thinking in Russia. 15-20 years ago many sales here were made in dollars. People were sallling various stuff (cars, realty, audio and video equipment etc.) and the prices were in dollars because of high inflation and unstable Ruble's exchange rate. Then a period of about 10-15 years of stability came. But after Crimea annexation and following sanctions Ruble became 2 times cheaper. So, many people came back to "dollar thinking".

In Moscow 20+ years ago, everything was priced in YE, where $1 USD = 1 YE. But then the Russian Govt made rules against that.... Everything is in RR in now, but as you said, people think in dollars - although thinking in Euros happens too in Moscow.
