The Easter egg hunt has started. Can you guess at which manufacturer?

With an Easter egg hunt it should be either Chickening or Grotrian-Steinwegg.

It is reminiscent of the Seiler 5ft semicircular grand, which Roberts Pianos did a video on last August.

August Förster is correct.

They recently celebrated their 160- years anniversary earlier this April.

Wow I guessed the correct answer! My guess was based on the the photo showing a European/German looking artisan working on a relatively small but very organised workshop. August Forster being a boutique piano maker fits the bill.

Happy Easter everyone.

Skjalg,

I was also going to guess Förster, based on the ribs and shape of the board. Curious though, what exactly is this person doing? It seems that the soundboard is laid out on top of a larger unfinished frame. This could be an optical illusion, but I would love to get some explanation of what was happening when you took this photo.

In the picture he measures the curvature of the soundboard as part of the quality control (I verified this with a person that has taken extensive tours at the factory, just to be sure). August Förster did have an open day to the public earlier in April, at the same time I was visiting Germany, but it would have been a 9 hours detour one way from where I was, so unfortunately I missed it.

The picture itself originates from the Facebook page of August Förster, that I linked to in my previous post. They posted is as an egg hunt, as in finding the egg in the picture. I assume some or all of you noticed it.

While there are several indices in the picture as to the origin, the soundboards and ribs are the real clue. Steingraeber, as was suggested first, also has quite a wide tail in the smaller model, but it is more curved than the August Förster, see their 170 grand.
