Hi there,

I play my Yamaha N1 with headphones 99.9% of the time, but I just found out that the G2 key emits some kind of weird thud when using the piano's speakers.
* it only happens with the speakers, never with the headphones,
* it only happens with piano voice #1, not the others
* I did a reset, and it's still there
* it doesn't happen all the time, but with G2+B#2 it happens 90%+ of the time
* G2 is the only key so far that triggers it
* it needs to be f,ff,fff+... p,pp, etc don't trigger it (no matter what the volume knob is set to).

You can listen for it there: https://clyp.it/13lzacpb
The thud is about 1.5 seconds after the notes. Hearing it by yourself feels much louder than in the recording for some reason.

I am wondering if anyone else faced the same issue?
My piano is of course out of warranty, so I am hesitant to call a repairman..

Thanks!

So if you have the headphones plugged in you don't hear it, so it's not a mechanical issue right? I mean it sounds like part of the action resetting so I'm kind of surprised.

Sounds like a key-noise sample. How did you make the record?

How are you playing the key? I hear two clunks after each note, is the second one part of the mystery noise or is that you physically letting the key rise so you can play the note again?

@Chrispy: yes, I don't think it's mechanical either since I can't hear it with headphones.

@Carlos: I did record the sound with my iphone. Wouldn't I hear the same issue with headphones if it was a sample issue?

@Gombessa: The problem is with the first (louder) clunk, the second clunk is me letting go of the key.

I also unplugged the speaker in the back thinking it might be an issue with it, but it didn't help.
