I currently have a Casio CDP-120, which I'm looking to upgrade for a nicer action to control my VSTs, as a reward for finishing Alfred's Adult Book 2

Maybe I'm just sceptical, but it's been hard to find a concrete answer on whether the action on the new casio s100 and s1000 are physically different, or just marketed with different names such as 'smart' .

My other options were the Korg D1, which has the RH3 action of the high end Korg Models, or the Roland FP10. VPC1 is not available in Australia.



- Has anyone tried both the S100 and S1000 and noticed a difference?

- Whats the consensus on the Korg RH3 action? Is it still a top piano action in 2019?

- I have a budget of around AUD $1500, but would prefer less than $1000.

I believe Mike Martin of Casio USA confirmed that the actions used by the new CDP-S and PX-S models are different.

I played both, CDP-S100 and PX-S1000. The action is similar, but there are some slight differences, PX-S1000 felt quieter and a bit heavier. Black keys are hard to play close to the fallborad on both. Roland FP-10 is a bit heavy for me. I much prefer RH3 to all of them (I have the Korg Grandstage, that's maybe why).
