Hello Kim,

Are you referring to this step?

[Linked Image]

If so, the keys to press are in the uppermost octave (i.e. the right side of the keyboard, as you look at the instrument).

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
James

No. All the keys required to enter the update mode are in uppermost (7th) octave, on the right side of the piano, close to the volume slider.

Sorry to ask one stupid question about CA98.
Updating software will clean the favorite records?
I want to update software but don't want to rebuild my favorite record.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, they will all be lost.

Feel free to voice your concerns to Kawai and see what they say.

Thanks.

Which update exactly? Only the main board, or also the UI?
Meaning: Does The UI already show version 1.02 (so you only need the first part of the update) or is it still 1.01 or older, so you need all three parts?
Because if it is the former, I think you can do the update without losing the favorites (at least I didn't lose them with such upgrades with the NV10, which is comparable). I'm not sure if a full update (all three parts) creates a problem with the favorites. It has been to long since I applied that update so I don't remember the details.

Hello harryhang,

A "full" update consists of three stages:

1. System software update
2. Touchscreen software update (part 1)
3. Touchscreen software update (part 2)

At the time of writing, the latest software update for the CA98/CA78 is v1.0.2f.

However, it's likely that your CA98 is already running v1.0.2 of the touchscreen software (indicated at the bottom of the Settings menu in Pianist or Sound mode). If so, only the system software update (stage 1) is necessary, and the touchscreen software update (stages 2 and 3) can be skipped.

Now, to respond to your query:

If only the system software is updated (stage 1), previously stored Favorite memories should be retained.
However, if the touchscreen software is update (stages 2 and 3), I believe previously stored Favorite memories may be lost.

I hope this answers your question.

Kind regards,
James

I appreciate all your reply, it's helpful to me.

Because i purchased my CA98 last September, and is already running v1.02.
After i unzip the 1.02f software package, only the CAx8_P06.SYS file been modified after September.
According to James's reply, i think i just need to process stage 1 and keep my previous favorite record.

Thank you so much^^

The former DP generation (CA97) could save its settings on an USB stick and restore them later.

The CAx8/NV10 cannot do that any more and this is something which has already been discussed in this forum, for example here.

Unfortunately Kawai think it is OK because it is written in that way in the manual and they don't see any need to improve that. Just like all a few others things which many users find bad about the GUI.

Yes,

I've recently updated to 1.0.2f and lost them all.
I clearly remember deciding not to recreate them, as I fear the technician coming next week will factory reset, and I have to redo yet again.

There were two reasons why I quickly ditched the CA67 after a week. The first was the refusal of Kawai to acknowledge the loud note issue, the second was the buggy software. In my opinion it need a complete rewrite and from what I have seen of the latest CA78 they have merely added a GUI on top of it. So not surprising there are so many issues still.

In the video, looks like the touch screen wasn't calibrated properly. When the finger touches the Done button, it triggered the "m" letter.

Could it be that some (not all) of the GUI issues were caused by touchscreen miscalibration?

Yes, please write about your problems via Enquiry form. I already sent 4-5 forms in my first day of ownership.

In fact, this is global cultural decline. Quality is *bad* everywhere: software, movies, music, food, clothes, buildings, you name it. This is the downslope of 100 year swipe and we have to wait 70 years for "gold" generation to come and put us on new peak. You'll say, how about hardware, cars. And that part is just design made 20 and more years ago. CA-98 hardware is mostly same as CA-95. When it comes to new design made by new generation, I assure you it will be bad as heck. And this is not yet the bottom. For next 20 years it will be worse and worse. So be prepared.

Digital piano-related enquiries submitted via the Kawai Global website are usually forwarded to me.

Am I correct in thinking that your email address is a****.d****@gmail.com (address censored by me)?
If so, it appears from my message logs that we received two email from you: one on the 18th April, the other on the 16th June. Is this correct?

With the greatest respect, this is incorrect.
The CA95 and CA98 use completely different hardware.
