Piano Project 2019: The Influence of Song

Celebrating its twelfth season, the Bloomingdale School of Music Piano Project will present over 70 performances by students and faculty on Saturday, March 30th at the school. Four concerts, each an hour in length, will be presented on this year's topic, "The Influence of Song".

War and Peace: Music by Contemporary Women Composers

BSM faculty members Olga Gurevich, Alicia Bennett, and Molly Aronson, with guest perfomer Wilma Wever explore various perspectives on the theme of war and peace by contemporary women composers.

Music by Alla Borzova, Juliana Hall, and Ellen Lindquist will be performed.

Composer Pianists

Following last year's "Composer Pianists" recital, Bloomingdale piano faculty artist Nuno Marques continues to explore the repertoire with works by: Fernando Lopes-Graça, Luis Freitas Branco, Vianna da Motta, and Frédéric Chopin.

Also featured on the program is a new composition by New York City native, Mariel Mayz.

Celebrating Joan Tower

Regarded as one of the most important American composers living today, Joan Tower will join BSM faculty members Claudia Schaer, Gili Sharett and Marc Peloquin in a celebration of her music.

There will be a post-concert reception celebrating the composer's birthday. All are welcome to attend.
