Since I will miss the 2018 edition, I'm signing myself up for 2019! Time to get to Bulgaria again. It's been too many years. Last time, I was there, Bulgaria was not part of the EU!

We had the national music festival this weekend. Next year I think I will try to time the party to coincide with that.

I suspect Shadow has been fructified. (Mods, read that carefully before you delete it).

Anyone want a puppy?

It looks as if the party will be around the 12 -13 July weekend.

I have provisionally booked the soloist and the tuner based on those dates.

It is ideal if I can get it close enough to the annual folk music festival so visitors can do both, without clashed.

Anyone fancy a tour of a factory producing fiddles of various sizes? I could organise that.

It has also occurred to me that I might be able to organise something else of interest.

Before a party I have all 4 pianos tuned, of course. This year there is also some work to be done on the big Bluthner and on the C Bechstein III. I might be able to get that done whilst guests are present but before the actual day of the concert and recital. Would that be of any interest to anyone?

Latest update:

I now have 6 international visitors booked- 4 from China and 2 from USA. There is still plenty of space, though, as the house has elastic walls. Latecomers get to choose on which piano they sleep.

The soloist is booked to come and give us some chamber music and master classes for those who want them. That will almost certainly be in the music room.

All 4 machines are going to be tuned just before the date. At present there is no action in the Bluthner in the ballroom, but that will be working for the party, of course. There was some excessive wear on the felt on the ends of the keysticks. This certainly didn't help. I hope when that is done that she will play better than ever.

This is an actual meetup, isn't it? If so, then I can't make it although I'd really really like to. There's no way I can get time off in July now, I would have had to book that at least a month ago.

Have a blast, those who are going!!

Tyrone, you are well and truly inked in for the party.

Just picked up another guest. The place sleeps 9 without resorting to airbeds etc. so we are still not full.

Looks like being another good one at this rate.

I have ordered the baseball caps for the event. I thought those were safer than T shirts. No sizing to consider.

Things have moved on since the party which you attended.

I am going to split the piano party per se and the big whole village is invited summer ball. So we will have a soloist for one evening of the piano get together but she will be playing chamber music in the music room.

I think you were with me the year that I had an accident, was robbed and then was sick on the main party day. I hope none of those will happen this year!

There should be a trip to a local fiddle factory, which should be interesting- the one that made the double bass and the guitar which are in the music room. Trip to Veliko Tarnovo for those who want it and, of course, a baseball hat each.

BTW I still haven't finished the kosher salt which you left. It is particularly good, so saved for special occasions.

Glad to hear you are still enjoying your salt from the Great Salt Lake.

Yes, it was the year of misfortunes for you. In addition to the things you mentioned, I seem to remember that there had also been a hailstorm that cracked several of your roof tiles. Perhaps you should toss a little salt over your shoulder for good luck!

I recall him mentioning roof leaks from that that lasted a good long time before the roofers were able to make repairs.
