I ordered and it arrived today.

Can someone explain how you use it ?

It has lots of music - is there like a system people use to learn from ?

Why don't you just start anywhere? For example, you could read Graham Fitch's lesson (and new Youtube video) on wrong notes. Then learn Satie's Le Piccadilly. smile (not that I've done either of those two things, LOL, but I do have the issue on my iPad! laugh )

You can play the CD with it on your Mac in iTunes, if you have an external Mac CD reader connected by USB.

Ok I don’t have the cd reader. Yes I just played the music and played the first 4 but I haven’t read the magazine yet. The burgmuller was fun to practice changing fingers. That’s as far as I got. I think I’ll listen to the others on YouTube, I don’t recognise any of the music.

Not knowing the exact format of the CD or the format in which you received the magazine, if it's a standard CD, do you not have a CD player in your home on which you could play the CD? Does it have to be played on a computer?

Kids these days...!

You did order a magazine that’s clearly advertised as having a paper version which comes with a CD, and an electronic version with audio files for electronic devices! Silly smile

I haven't seen it in paper, but I guess I remember what paper magazine's look like smile I have the electronic subscription myself, and all the audio files are nicely linked to each of the respective scores. Works great! (Now if I only had enough piano skillz to play any of them, I'd be all set! LOL)

same here - didn't know anyone used them these days.

I just throw the CD in the bin and use the magazine to play whatever pieces in it I fancy.

Must admit the articles do nothing for me and I don't bother with them - probably not advanced enough to benefit.

I hear you! I’m about to start on the Scriabin in the current edition, let’s see how that goes.

I like to read things on paper and for music definitely paper scores. I hate printed sheets. So maybe a partial dinosaur. No one uses cds now. Cd are prehistoric and stopped being used in the Jurassic. Now they are used only by dinosaurs 🦕

Rub it in, will ya! Lol.

I hear you on the subject of electronic vs paper sheet music. But I make exceptions occasionally.

Ok thanks.

I’ll take a look at some articles tomorrow.

What exactly is on the cd ? Is it not on YouTube ?

If it’s rubbish I’ll just throw it away as well.

Carefully peel the CD off the front cover, and you'll find the list of contents on the back of the CD sleeve.
Throw away performances of all the pieces in your magazine performed by a concert pianist confused?

Assuming you can actually find YT performances of such obscure pieces, they're almost certainly rubbish compared to those on the CD.

I couldn't do without my CDs, and I wouldn't buy any computer which has no slot for a CD/DVD. My MacBook Pro has one. How else would I upload my new CDs into it?

Also, I record concerts from (digital) BBC Radio 3 direct onto CD and then transfer them into my iPod Classic (remember them? - holds 160GB of music) - which now contains lots of complete piano recitals by great pianists over the past 40 years.

BTW, I have several big beautiful CD boxes, including of 'Great Pianists of the 20th Century':
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Pian...at+pianists+of+the+20th+century+complete

.....which is apparently now worth at least £2,000 grin

What's a CD?

Seriously, I had hundreds, ripped them one year, and donated them. Now I don't even listen to the rips; everything I could want to hear is on Apple Music.

One day, last year, went to the library. I saw they had quite a collection of DVD's; hundreds if not thousands. You can take them out for free. I got all excited, and when my family was going to be away one weekend, drove to the library, spent 30 minutes looking through and carefully picking out movies I had wanted to see, and started walking to the checkout. Only then did I remember I haven't had a DVD player hooked up in years! Since my last move, 5 years ago. I called myself a stupid idiot (redundant?), put them back and walked out. That was the weekend I streamed Amadeus, Immortal Beloved and Shine.

So yes, Moo, I'm with you!

Thank you Mr Ben. Yes there is a list on the back and it seems to be as you said performance of 16 pieces by a professional. However there is no point doing so when I cant play it. Why dont they should publish the music online rather than make a CD which no one uses? I think I'll donate my copy to ancient history museum. It'll make a nice exhibit next to a T-Rex, who was last known to use a CD.

I just subscribed to the digital version. What a great value: 36 USD per year is only three bucks a month, six bucks per issue. So much great instructional material, and I love the interviews and reviews. Highly recommended!
