It may be a FAQ, if so please link me over. I searched already, really. grin

I read the "how to record yourself" section under important topics, or tried to, but I'm still left wondering how to record myself with my limited resources being an iphone and a mac computer, and my luddite self.

The app I have on my phone works, but is tinny and sounds terrible. Any suggestions, in non-tech speak, please, would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, recording an acoustic piano is both difficult and expensive.

Your best bet without fiddling around too much is to get a recorder like the Zoom H4 or H6 that has built in microphones. These are relatively easy to use and will sound OK.

The next step up from that would be to purchase a matched pair of small diaphragm condenser microphones like the Rode NT55. Then you can plug these into something that gives them "phantom power" like a Zoom Recorder or an audio interface like a Focusrite Scarlett that is plugged into your computer. This will sound significantly better, but the cost will be over $1000 and you will have to experiment a lot with microphone placement to get a good result.
