Hey all, I was wondering if there is any interest in starting an ABF PNW meetup, maybe like a quarterly thing. Though I love my island "piano forum", everyone else has been playing for years and years (and most are teachers) and I would like the try getting together with some other beginners once and a while. We could even move it around, like alternating between the Seattle, Vancouver and Portland areas. I wanted to gauge interest here before I created a meetup as it costs money now smile I was thinking if 10+ people would be able to commit to it, it would be worth organizing.

The format would be
- An intro (maybe a short presentation or video, followed by some discussion)
- Everyone draws numbers and then plays a piece
- Food/drinks/socialize

Size would dictate venue. Could be someones home, or if we had enough, Piano stores are usually happy to host, as well as churches, schools or libraries.

Anyway, please chime in with interest, and I'll follow up with a meetup link if there is enough.

Thanks!

Wish I were closer! I would join on a trip, maybe next summer (2020)? This summer is scheduled. Have fun!

Could be fun! I have only a very tiny repertoire, but I do need more opportunities to develop and practice my stage fright routine! Rumor has it that Edmonds will soon have a “piano bar” — I volunteer to research as a possible venue.

Goodbye Mister Upright (Yamaha YUS5), hello Estonia L168.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but any of those locations would require an overnight for me. Have you considered something in between? Olympia maybe—state capitol?

I'd be open to pretty much anything in the PNW, and I don't mind overnighting myself to accommodate others. That's why I was suggesting quarterly, to make it not so onerous for the travel. Anyway, Olympia would be great to add to the mix. I love it down there, and it's cheaper than Seattle or Portland laugh
