Looks like the same action and sound engine as the FP-30...
slightly reduced feature set, smaller and a bit lighter.
A lower price-point to be sure, but I don't know as yet what that is.

Looks like a nice VST controller to me. USB to host is there, half-pedaling is there, anything else you need is on the computer.

Wow, nice looking unit. If this is priced against the Yamaha P-45, it might just be one of the best entry level DPs around. I like the PHA-4S/Ivory Feel G action, definitely preferred over GHS. and the part-modeled SuperNatural sounds great--like the FP-30 it's essentially a low cost RD300-NX.

Can it record wav to USB? Roland called the USB-A an "update port."

And it looks like the headphone jack is right in the middle of the back? Ugh, have people learned nothing from the CP4? smile

- Noticed the single 3.5mm, 1/8” output jack is now on the back.
- And the all-important Roland Jazz Scat sound laugh

Between the Roland Go Devices and now the FP-10, Roland is really going for this end of the market. Not only a lower price point but phone/tablet/computer users (no MIDI jacks).

Do any entry level DPs today have 5-pin MIDI other than the ES110? I think everyone is moving on to USB MIDI (and in the case of the FP-10, also BT MIDI).

So street price should be between the FP-30 and GO 88,

I’m guessing:
US$699 FP30
US$599 FP10
US$399 GO88

Typical cost saving measure. No logic board at the front, no additional wiring needed.

I bet these low cost boards with their older tone generators still use standard MIDI internally, but it gets converted to USB and BT with additional circuitry before being exposed to the user. It's more like "built-in adapters" instead of legacy free.

Sure, but there is a board on the back that extends past dead center (where power/USB resides). Having a headphone jack offset to the left would be better than dead center, so the cord doesn't have to come up between your feet. First world problems, I know smile

I believe the Korg D1 has the old 5-pin midi port...which is a bit ugh (unless you are happy to use a converter)...

If that price is set - it's an absolute joke...their spec sheet also states 96 note polyphony...this board is dead to me.

Yeah, I think $800 is about the break point. Below that, in a DP, you just get USB.

Better than USB-only. Converter from 5-pin DIN to USB is cheap and reliable, The 5-pin gives you a more rugged connection on the keyboard side, less chance of noise, recommended max distance of 50' instead of 15', and ability to connect directly to other keyboards. OTOH, adapting a USB-only board to 5-pin requires a more expensive, less universally compatible device, which is also larger and may need its own AC power supply.

Yup - might be a good time to get an FP30 (if Roland floats your boat that is) now as one of the last good/decent entry DPs before this monstrosity steals the show...

Hopefully this is a P45/P125 play (or perhaps CDP/Privia on the Casio side) rather than replacing the FP30 with an lesser-featured, more expensive version...

and they're already 'discounting' it a bit with their $549 stand/seat/pedal/headphone "bundle" - although I might not choose those specific items -

Gonna be a tough new competitor in the entry-level DP market...

So - have any of you compulsive spec-readers listed out what it's giving up for $200 compared to the FP30?

Interesting. Would love to see a 73-key version of this - that is travel friendly.
